How should you prepare for a computed tomography (CT) scan?

 

Before the scan

  • Check for any contraindications to the CT scan

Preparing for your appointment

  • Arrive 20 minutes before the scheduled start of the scan
  • Wear clothing without metal elements in the area being examined

On site

  • Use the changing room
  • Leave personal belongings and change clothing if necessary

If the scan is with contrast

  • Have your creatinine level tested (result valid for up to 14 days)
  • Do not eat for 6 hours before the scan
  • Do not drink for 3 hours before the scan

Documents

Please bring the following to your appointment:

  • a document confirming your identity (ID card or passport)
  • a referral
  • results of previous imaging tests of the examined anatomical area (CDs and reports)
  • a creatinine test result not older than 14 days (for scans with contrast)
